Todd Haynes’ (Carol, MVFF 2014) exquisite rendering of Brian Selznick’s novel tells the parallel stories of two children, Ben (in 1977) and Rose (in 1922), who each goes on a quest that leads to New York. Beautifully performed (Julianne Moore and Michelle Williams support) and visually rich, Wonderstruck is cinema at its best. US 2017, 115 min. Director Todd Haynes
